Hi,
I am rather new with Nord. I have a sequencer attached (Roland Mc-50)
So i recorded and play back some music (piano sound)
All fine
Now:
is it possible to let play the sequencer the piano part
and then play live another sound (lets say violins?)
Thanks voor answering!

Re: Sequenzer plays one midi channal, live playing another?
We need to know which model of Electro you have. Can be done with E5 and E6. If it's an E6 you need to set the piano to the lower part and the other sound to the upper part. Then select EXT KEYB to LO. In the setup pages you can choose which MIDI channels the Nord responds to. Factory setting is upper part = CH 1 and lower part is CH 16. So you need to record or change the piano part to match that channel. The MC-50 will then 'play' the piano and you can play any sound from the other sections at the same time
From the Manual:
The EXTERNAL KBD TO LO feature allows for playing and controlling
the Electro 6 sound engines from an external keyboard connected to its mIDI input. This can be handy in live situations where a secondary keyboard can be used as a controller for parts of the Nord Electro 6, on a per-program basis.
M When a sound engine is in External KBD to Lo mode its KB Zone LEDs will be lit with a red light - indicating that it is not controlled from the internal keyboard.
In External KBD to Lo mode the UP keyboard zone corresponds to the entire Nord Electro 6 keyboard.
and....
11 - ChanneL
GLOBAL
This sets the transmitting and receiving MIDI channel for the Global Channel. The Global Channel transmits all keyboard, pedal and panel actions as MIDI signals. It can also be used as a receiving channel with full control of the entire electro 6.
Range: 1-16, Off (Default 1)
exTeRnAL KBD
This sets the channel for receiving MIDI from an external keyboard when using the “external KBD to Lo” function - see page 18.
Range: 1-16, Off (Default 16)

Re: Sequenzer plays one midi channal, live playing another?
Thanks! I have the E6
I am tryinig to get it done with your information.
At the moment i am struggling with it.
If I record strings. The MT50 will send the strings to the E6.
But when playing te keyboard at the same time, also the strings ar sounded (not the Piano sound)
I have to figure it out. But its a little dazzling at the moment.
In the printed manual i read in chapter 9: MIDI
Recording an E6 to Performance to a midi sequencer:
1. Set the sequencer track to route back incoming MIDI on the Global channel.
I do not know what it means.

Here are the steps:
1. In the System pages Change your Global Channel to 2 and set your ExtKb to 3
2. Select your string sound and record your part to the MT50 - this will record the part on Channel 2
3. In the System pages Change your Global Channel to 1 and set your ExtKb to 2
4. Create a patch that has Strings as the lower part and Piano as the upper part
5. Press Shift + SPlit to enable KeybLo function and save the patch
6.Play your sequence from the MT50 - this should play the sound on Channel 2 which is the lower part (Strings)
7. Play the keyboard - this should play piano as it is assigned to the Upper part
