Do NW2 and Stage 3 Compact share the same keybeds
Do NW2 and Stage 3 Compact share the same keybeds
Hi all,
See topic. I know the stage has some more keys but is the keybed (key size, touch etc the exact same oherwise).
I want to buy a Stage 3 Compact but can only physically test an NW2 in the store hence I am asking if these are equal feeling wise.

Re: Do NW2 and Stage 3 Compact share the same keybeds
They both have waterfall keys, both have an aftertouch strip below, both are expected to feature a Fatar TP/8O. But that doesn't mean they need to feel the same: There might be softer/harder springs being used.
I'd say that the Stage 3 Compact has a rather fast, slightly stiff keybed. But have never played a Wave 2 for comparison.

I have both instruments. The Wave 2 keybed is the same model, but has a few millimeters less (2.8 to be exact) key travel and more depth into the aftertouch strip.

The NW2 has a "harder/stiff" keyboard.
Better than NE6 for me.

Re: Do NW2 and Stage 3 Compact share the same keybeds
I own the Stage 3 Compact and NW2.
The NW waterfall keybed feels a little bit more firmer/Responsive in its playing action its like they've perhaps improved the key action on this semi weighted Keybed,I don't recall my Compact feeling quite as nice as this when it was new, although my Stage 3 is a few years older,so has seen moderate daily use,so I can't compare them from a brand new perspective but there does seem to be a difference in the NordWave version action from my past experiences with Nord Semi weighted waterfall beds
