Hi,
Got my NW2 recently and love the synth engine.
As expected, Rhodes and Piano sounds are very basic and since NW2 doesn't read samples from the Nord Piano library, I was wondering if someone can recommend high-quality 3rd party Rhodes & Piano samples that we could load into NW2 using the Sample Editor? I am sure those will not be as good as NS or NP Rhodes since the Sample Editor doesn't support multi-layer sampling but I hope there are some good "single-layer"Rhodes out there.
Thank you,
DT

Thanks. I believe those are already included as presets in NW2, but they are just ok. Looking for something better, closer to the quality of the ones in Electro/Stage.
Thanks,

You may want to try sampling your own Electro and then loading the converted sample into the NW2. It still will be a single velocity sample, but you can use velocity on the filter and the amp to give you some control over expression.

This would be my 2nd solution

Thanks guys. Yes, that would be an alternative but unfortunately I do not own an Electro. Sold it a long time ago.
When reading about NW2 ability to load samples from the Nord Library I assumed that this includes pianos & Rhodes samples available to Nord Electro/Piano/Stage keys. Unfortunately I realized that that's not the case once I received my NW2. Nobody's fault by mine.
If I can find really good Rhodes samples from a 3rd party I think that would solve my problem.
Thanks,
DT

You're not going to find a "really good" single velocity rhodes or piano unless the dynamic range you need is limited (I.E. a soft felt piano can sound fine with a single layer.) This is not the right tool for the job. You can find 2, maybe 3 different velocities and use morphing to crossfade their levels, but it is fiddly for anything above 2 layers and it's simply not going to give you the full expression that the piano library provides...not even close. It is possible to create playable piano-type sounds by using velocity morphing on the filter, amp and layer levels but don't expect authenticity.

Thanks for the info.
Returned my NW2 and got Nord Stage 3 Compact instead. I do miss the layout of NW2 but not having a good selection of rhodes was a dealbreaker for me.
Cheers,
DT

Good outcome. I also recently returned a short sleeve shirt because it didn't come with a decent selection of water skiing attachments.
