Stage 2 vs Electro 6

Postby Falcon2e » 23 Apr 2021, 18:34

Does anyone know how the organ sections compare between the Stage II and the Electro 6? I know about the drawbars, but do they sound identical?

something that's obvious to me is that Stage 2 doesn't have Pipe organ sound built into the organ engine (you can use it inside samples/synth section, but it's not the same). Also, Electro 6 has B3 bass, which can help in some cases, but it's hard to compare that because of the constitution difference of the Stage series and Electro series (you have more split/layer possibilities with Stage than with electro, so you can "fix" that missing of B3 bass).
One thing that I'm not 100% sure, but Stage 3 is the first stage to use C2D organ engine, and because Electro 6 came after that, I naturally assume Electro 6 uses it too (maybe not...), but Stage 2 for sure doesn't :)

Stage 2/2EX has an earlier version of Nord's organ engine. Not only it lacks the pipe organ, but also the Hammond emulation, and especially the Leslie, is less advanced. It's still usable of course, but not on par with more recent clonewheels.
In a band context, few in the audience would hear the difference. For jazz/gospel or more "exposed" settings, it becomes noticeable.
In the end it all depends how much you use organ and how much of a purist you are in needing the best available sound

You are absolutely correct. I checked out the Nord product page and found a lot of info. I guess I should have done that before posting. Thanks!

The C2D organ engine resides on the electro since the 4 (that I have) and since there was no successor to the C2D I assume that both E5 and E6 carry the same. By the way, it would be awesome to see a new organ from nord wich will give it's engine to the electro7 and stage4.
