Re: Question on piano frequency range and using subwoofer
I must award the highest honor from the College of Musical Knowledge to baekgaard! Those posts remind me of the time long ago when I was playing a 1975 Rhodes Stage 73. When gigging, I was putting everything through our Sunn PA, and the Rhodes sounded great. However, when I played it at home through my Fender Twin, something wasn't right and I couldn't figure out what the problem was. Now I realize that the Twin, being a guitar amp, wasn't designed for frequencies below the low E in standard guitar tuning (82.4 Hz, which also corresponds to E2 on my Rhodes and on other pianos in general). So, when I was playing at home and making more use of the lower register, at some point I was hearing just (or mostly) the overtones, and not so much the fundamentals.
