Re: store problem in the clavia Nord Electro 4D?

Hello Pablo,

"The octave shift parameter is stored with the program. It is not stored with the sample."

I know that. I store this in the program, not in the sample; for the piano, Upright, EP's and organ the STORE action is working; no problem.
It's only not working in the Sample Lib type.

"Different samples will have different octave ranges by inherent nature.
A piccolo and an upright bass will differ.
Also, the instrument will not allow octave shifts to go beyond the meaningful range of the instrument"

Right, that's true, BUT:

- It does not matter what I do with ANY sample I choose in the default NORD sounds.
Keeping the octave for what it was, only changing an effect or other little things, the outcome is always the same:
He does not STORE it correctly.
He does not STORE any change of all the delivered Nord samples.
Even if I change one little thing (for example an effect, equalizer, etc.). He does not STORE it.

So I think there really is a problem with this keyboard, and will write a mail to the technical support.

Anyway, thank you for your suggestions; much appreciated.

Regards,
Rick

perhaps Dutch tech support will be better able to discuss this with you in your native language

the NE4D has been out there for many years now. with what is probably thousands of units sold and no other similar complaints, it is difficult to imagine that there could be a software bug of this magnitude without anyone having noticed sooner...

Hello Pablo,

I have found it.
"problem" is solved.

My fault; I admit it.

What did I do wrong?

It was my misinterpretation of the up/down buttons near the model display and the page up/down buttons near the program display.
Everytime I stored the new value, I checked that by switching at the up/down buttons near the model display, because I thougt that I should see the new store there.
Did not play sufficant attention to the page buttons.
So he stored every sample inclusive the octave shift, but I checked that at the wrong place.
So a technical support was not not required...
I missed a piece of the puzzle, now it is totally clear.

Again, thank you for your advises.
Rick

Hi mindrush,
I had the same problem as yours, I don't know have you dealt with this issue yet or not, but I believe my answer will help so many new users lol.
See "Chapter 4 Getting Started" in the official Manual, and go to the subject "Memory Protection",
"When the Nord Electro 4D is shipped from factory, the memory protect
is turned on to prevent you (or your cat) from accidentally overwriting
any of the original programs. Before you can store any of your own
programs, this memory protect feature has to be turned off by toggling
a setting located in the System menu.
1 Hold Shift and press the Program 1 button to enter the System
Menu.
2 The very first item in the System Menu is the Memory Protection.
Use the Down button to get to the first item if this isn’t already
active.
3 Hold Shift and press the Down button to switch from the On
setting to the Of setting.
4 Press shift to exit the system menu. The memory protection will
now remain in the Off setting until you change it again."

You have to UNLOCK the memory protection feature, in order to start storing your own sounds.
