Help wanted with Nord Stage Ex Revision B

Post by villitrompet »

Hi Everybody.

I just bought myself a Nord stage Revision B 88 Key model. I´m using a Mac computer and i just downloaded Nord sound manager V 5,58 for mac
The Nord stage is running on 2,16 OS system. When i connect it to usb to my mac it does´t read it and it stands there "please connect your Nord instrument to the Usb port"
in the sound manager it stands that it works only with minimum v4,00 OS system. How can i upgrade to that?

Reason: Clarified instrument type in title (Ex)

Hello villitrompet,
Welcome! :welcome:
Congratulations on your purchase!

The Stage Ex uses an Update Utility separate from the Nord Sound Manager (NSM).
The Update Utility should properly detect your Nord Stage Ex (NSEx) even though NSM currently won't.
Please note, there might be issues of compatibility (Update Utility) if you're using OSX Lion, but should work fine with earlier versions like Leopard, and Snow Leopard.

The Update Utility can be downloaded from the Clavia site. It has pdf instructions on how to use it.

Please post back if you need further help.
Cheers, Hanon

thanks for your reply. I´m using a OS Lion on my mac. Is that the problem?
Where can i get this update utility program? I´ve tried to look for it on clavia site but can´t see it. I tried to upgrade to this OS v6,04 but it didn´t work.
the message i received was " no Nord Stage Ex Connected".
This is quite strange because i´ve been using this M-Audio keyboard with Usb to my mac with no problems.. :(

Hello Villitrompet,
this is the link for the OS Update Utility
However, it may not run under OSX Lion.
You'll have to try it and report back.
Some Update utilities for older instruments like the Electro 2, and possibly the Stage Ex, require Rosetta to operate. Rosetta has been removed from Lion.
The USB of the Nord Stage Ex will never been recognized by the Mac as a MIDI device (even after the update).
The best that you can hope for is that it will function with the Sound Manager app for managing the programs and exchanging the Piano Library sounds.
Cheers, Hanon
