Unwanted pitch bends/out of tune on 5D

Postby doctor ego » 04 Nov 2020, 03:30

Hi folks, Got my NE 5D 73 in 2016 and at the last gig, suddenly I was the one who was out of tune! Unfortunately by 50 cents.
I traced it to the the Roland A-30 I've been using as a connected keyboard. Despite setting the 5D's Midi Control Change Mode to off, the Nord is still responding to pitch bends from the Roland (and a glitch in the Roland's data entry pot that's stuck on pitchbend). Any way to filter out the unwanted midi controller messages?
Thanks,
Eric

Hi, that's because Pitch Bend is not a "control change" message but a distinct MIDI message of its own kind and it is not foreseen to be filtered in the NE5 MIDI implementation.

If your A30' is malfunctioning you need to solve it on the A30 side, you should be able to reassign the Data Entry to something else (check your A30 manual A30 manual for that or for how to do a Factory Reset EDIT: see page 34) and/or clean/replace the Data Entry slider pot.

Thanks maxpiano, I wasn't aware that pitch bend was not a subset of Control Change, thus filtered.
"I learn something new everyday"!
Reassigning the Roland Data entry slider wasn't fixing it, hence the post. But, YAY, factory reset did. Must have been corruption in the A-30. Also updated the Nord OS which was overdue.
Thanks again.
