Updating OS on Catalina
I just picked up my new wave 2 today and failed to install the OS update. The instructions don't work with Catalina. After downloading the dmg for OSv1.14 and double clicking on the downloaded file I get the instruction: "To launch on macOS Catalina: Control + Click on App and select "Open" from the context menu. In dialog window, select "Open". It works for me as far as selecting "Open" from the context menu ... and then nothing. I suspect there's some permission issue with Catalina that's preventing any progress with the installation but I can't fix it. Please help. I just want to play with my new toy and not fight with software. Thanks in advance from a very new Nord user.

Re: Updating OS on Catalina
There is nothing to "install" on the Mac, you have just to run (Open) that program from the dmg having the NW2 already connected to the Mac via USB (i.e. connect it before launching the OS update)
Another thing to try is to download that .dmg again, in case the previous the download was incomplete/broken

Re: Updating OS on Catalina
I did try again with the same results. When I select "open" as instructed I get nothing. When I select "get info" the box tells me I only have read permission. I think I need read write permission for this to work. It's tempting to think I'm an idiot, but really there is a problem here with updating my Nord os with Catalina version 10.15.7. I could probably work around this problem dragging the keyboard over to my wife's computer running Windows 7, but I want this to "just work" on my Mac. It really looks to me like Nord has to solve this if no one out there in form land has good advice.

Re: Updating OS on Catalina
I just tested this and it works for me on OS 10.15.7. Which Catalina version are you running?
Have you done the following?
Go to the Get Info Box
Click on the lock to allow changes (it will ask you for your password)
Give yourself the permissions.
Click to lock to defeat future changes.

Re: Updating OS on Catalina
When I click the unlock and use my password I still only have read permission. When I attempt to change the permission level of everyone I'm told I don't have permission to do that. When I click "Ignore ownership of this volume" I get an error. I bought I Mac so I wouldn't have to go through this type of nonsense and when I get this involved I'm not approaching the problem in the right way. I'd really like to know more about how I can change the permission levels and do what I want, but it shouldn't be this hard to update the software on my new keyboard.

Re: Updating OS on Catalina
What is "Fetching"? It does not appear that you are an Admin on your machine. I would go to Preferences>Users and Groups and add a new admin user. This issue I believe is due to the way you are logged into the computer

Re: Updating OS on Catalina
DJKeys, I want to thank you big time for sticking with me on this.
Before hitting the unlock it say "chriscopeman" then switches to fetching when I hit the unlock. Don't know why. I've tried unsuccessfully logging in as a different user with no success. I don't know why it says I have read only and chriscopeman has Read & Write other than Catalina is successfully blocking this operation. I should be the administrator. I can do everything else. Previously I've downloaded and installed software no problem, but only recently updated to Version 10.15.7. This may be the first time I've tried such a thing since I updated my Catalina.

Re: Updating OS on Catalina
Where is the updater located when you run it? Double click the virtual drive and do a Get Info on the update itself. Then, check this out, Chris-

Re: Updating OS on Catalina
Cool, I really feel we're making progress. I copied the app "Update Nord Wave 2 OS V 1.14.app" and pasted the copy into my applications folder and tried running it from there. Catalina still refuses to run and insists I contact the Nord developers. Catalina doesn't believe it's safe for me to run the app. Perhaps I should believe the message and contact Nord about this?

Hi,
this is the standard MacOSX gatekeeper message which comes up for any app who’s developer is not known by Apple. Try right-click on the app and select Open, then confirm to open it
