Hi everyone! I just purchased a wireless MIDI device, designed to be powered direct from port. Anybody knows the wiring schematic of NS3 Ha88? The device manual specifically mentioned that pin #2 of host’s port (in this case NS3’s port) should be connected to the ground otherwise it will not function.
I appreciate your help, thanks!

Re: Wireless MIDI device on NS3
Nords are known for (unfortunately) not providing enough current to feed external boxes, so regardless of where pin 2 is connected to, there might not be enough juice left to power your device. Feeding external devices is not part of the MIDI standard either.

Re: Wireless MIDI device on NS3
Which device exactly? I have tested a Yamaha MD-BT01 on my NS2 with no issues (works fine), not sure on NS3. Have you tested the same device also on a different MIDI keyboard?
PS: of course I assume you have checked that you are connecting it properly i.e. not swapping IN and OUT or connecting the IN only, since it is the MIDI OUT that powers the device.

Re: Wireless MIDI device on NS3
In a forum, I found that hint: If you don't have power supply via your instrument, set a MIDI-Patchbay or MIDI-Solutions Power-Adaptor in between...

Re: Wireless MIDI device on NS3
Hi thanks everyone for the comment. Unfortunately I did not get the Yamaha one, not available in my area and finding it too pricey for small data sending device.I settled for similar 3rd party. (Avatar brand) because of high good reviews. Yes, I will test it on other MIDI device, I got a foot controller will try on that. For Yamaha user- do you see any LED light to confirm power is working? Thanks for sharing about patchbay- will try that one.

Re: Wireless MIDI device on NS3
Hi all, so I tested my wireless midi and it worked on my foot controller (Rolls MP128). So for those planning to use wireless MIDI for Nord- so far Yamaha brand is the one that’s confirmed to work (based on comment above). Third party/ clones might not work example: Vanguard/ Avatar. Thanks!

Nov 2021,
Retracting my negative comment above about third party Wireless MIDI AVATAR in NS3.
So after a year gone by, I got curious to give it another try- and finally it worked, but not as straightforward as many would expect from a Bluetooth device. This is not your usual click the Bluetooth icon and pick device to connect- no no, I think this is the issue that looks like a problem at first.. this device needs the user to go deeper, deep into Audio settings, Audio midi setup (I am using Mac Air Big Sur). Need to click the Window among the menu, click show Bluetooth device, and this thing /device name will show up and from there you can click “connect”. Wow that was a long process for a tiny device, but I’m glad it’s working well. You can feel some latency but it’s playable/useable.
Thanks!

Re: Wireless MIDI device on NS3
I use the WIDI Master with the NS3 (and NS2), controlling an iPad or an Android device and it works perfectly !
