Hello,
I bought my Nord Drum 2 about a year ago, but till now I had different problems and I couldn’t use it completely. But recently I’ve obtained a working USB MIDI interface (among other things), so now I can load and save presets. That’s why I would like to ask: don’t you have some presets with classic 80s drum machine sounds? For example similar to LinnDrum / LM-1 / Linn 900 or E-Mu Drumulator / SP-12 or Simmons SDS-V or Oberheim DMX or something like that.
Thank you very much in advance.

Re: Nord Drum 2: classic 80s drum machine sounds?
I know that the mentioned drum machines are mainly sample based, but still I have the question: is it possible more or less to create some drum sounds that similar for example to LM-1, LinnDrum or Oberheim DMX? At least a kick and snare, accompanied by any kind of hi-hat, crash, ride, tom.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Hi kbzs565,
I'm not sure, did you check if any of the preset sounds comes close, or perhaps some of the sounds from the banks that you can download from the Nord website? Have a look here: https://www.nordkeyboards.com/sound-lib ... ory-sounds , there are a couple of free banks by artists and Nord listed on the left, check sound demo's of the Christofer Ulves and Tilliander banks, actually why not check them all, see if there's something you like. You can always edit them if they are not exactly what you are looking for. Crashes and rides will be more difficult, the rest should be possible to some degree..
Cheers,
Albert

Re: Nord Drum 2: classic 80s drum machine sounds?
Hi Albert,
thanks for the answer. Actually I downloaded all the available presets that I found some years ago (before I posted this question for the first time), the official ones, the others posted here in the forum, your acoustic kit as well, I like some of them, I use some of them, but unfortunately I haven't found anything yet, that would be similar to the mentioned ones, and I would need them for a specific purpose, for a specific project. Unfortunately I'm not really good at editing, I've tried it but I was not really satisfied with the result. Actually the most important would be the kick and the snare, the cymbals and toms I could use from my other drum machine. My other idea is, that I'll mix/layer the sounds of the two drum machines, maybe I can create something interesting, but I've thought I would try again, maybe someone, who likes the sound of the mentioned drum machines (and who is better at editing than me), has already created some similar patches and would share them

Hi kbzs565,
Cheers,

Yes, that would be great! Adding a small sampler to your setup might work if neither drummachine or nord drum is suitable, but I can understand you want to do as much as you can with what you have..kbzs565 wrote:maybe someone, who likes the sound of the mentioned drum machines (and who is better at editing than me), has already created some similar patches and would share them

Well, till now I've used analog and virtual analog drum machines only, I didn't want to use a sampler, but actually for this project I've already purchased a PCM drum machine, so the next step (if it won't be possible with ND2) would be a sampler Or just find another PCM drum machine that contains these (or similar) sounds. We'll see.
