Hi,
Today I wanted to record a thing using my Nord Piano 2HP as an external source feeding
it midi info to record through the normal audio output (as in just receiving
midi), something I have done many times before. The setup was as I usually
do, using my Roland UM-One as the midi cable and the updated version of Logic
Pro X (the only thing I have changed since last time I recorded using midi).
Everything went great until I pressed record and the piano just stopped
making sounds, even when I removed the midi-cables playing on it manually,
turning the volume knobs and other similar troubleshooting. But no sound
until I turned off and on the piano again. I have tried to fiddle a bit with
the controls in the midi menu (Control Change, Local Control, and so on.
Basically trying every possible combination) on the piano, as well as a
factory reset but the same thing happens. I have also tried my Korg MS20
which works as normal so I believe it might be the Piano.
I have the 1.22 update on my piano
If u guys could help I would be grateful.

Re: My Piano stops working when i press record using midi
When things like this happens to me it is usually because the MIDI track that is sent to the Nord has eg an initial (part/channel) volume command so the Nord plays at 0 part volume, or some other command that switches a setting on it.
I assume it receives MIDI commands (flashing LED) correctly?
Try changing program after you start playing, or connect the Nord only after you have pressed play. Check with a MIDI monitor what is sent. Check what logic is set up to.

Re: My Piano stops working when i press record using midi
given these circumstances it is more likely that the Logic update inadvertently caused this problem
if my guess is correct, you have a midi feedback loop which is causing the Nord to freeze up. There is a toggle setting in the software (sorry that I don't know Logic) whereby all midi data received by the software is re-transmitted to the midi output; this can be switched ON or OFF. Perhaps with your prior Logic install this was OFF and the update defaulted to ON.
if you can't find the place to switch that OFF in Logic, try turning Local OFF in the Midi Menu on the Nord before you attempt recording.
Please note: there's a flaw in my theory: that feedback loop could occur on a Stage model, but the NP2 is not set up to be passing midi thru at the output port, and that midi thru is necessary to drive a feedback loop...but the behavior sure sounds like a midi feedback loop...(scratching head)
...so, I'll be very interested to learn if turning Midi Local OFF helps here...please let us all know
bless, pablo
