Stage 3 Stuck in ‘Ready for Update’ mode

My Stage 3 Compact had a flash memory error mid-gig last night (not good).

I ended up performing a full factory restore, and then updated to v2.22.

After patching - all is fine. Everything is back to factory.

However, when power cycling, the system comes up in update mode ‘Ready for Update’ on screen, and the only way to clear it is to perform the 2.22 update again.

Any ideas?

Hi,

did you check the Troubleshooting section of the Update Instructions manual, especially the last part? Not sure if this will help since your error description does not really fit but it would be worth to try:


In the rare cases where the operating system in the Nord instrument have become damaged and the unit does not start properly, the Update Utility will be unable connect to the unit. If this is the case, start up the Nord while simultaneously holding down the Shift and Store buttons on the panel. This will start the unit in the Update mode, which makes it possible for the Update Utility to access and update the operating system in a Nord that does not start properly.

Just wanted to affirm the usefulness of the troubleshooting instructions. I was recently updating my Stage 2 from v2.10 to v3. The Nord got stuck on "Ready for Update" and the updater progress bar was stuck at zero. After looking at the troubleshooting instructions, I unplugged the USB cable from the Nord (which normally is a really bad idea but I had no choice), plugged it back in, and (thank God) it worked and updated fine. I probably should not have been doing this 3 hours before a gig :-)
