I have a Electro 5D 61 and Electro 5 HP 73. Both have identical settings however the 5D is able to receive midi via USB and the 5HP cannot.

It is frustrating as I like to use one for gigs and the other for the studio. Is there a non-midi related setting that enables the board to receive midi via USB?

I know that they have the same operating system and software and they are both new. I have been palying nords for years. Also an Electro 2 and a C1. I have never come across this problem. I have read the manual over a few times, and I would like to avoid swapping keyboards around if possible....

"Doesn't receive MIDI" means: MIDI LED on the NE doesn't show up while it should receive data? What about another USB cable?

Hi FZiegler, thank you for your response. yes you are correct, the midi LED on the NE 5HP73 does not light up. However the USB cable cannot be the problem as it works fine on my other NE 5D 61 keyboard

Is the USB port working fine with Nord Sound Manager? Can you receive MIDI from the NE5 (to the computer, checking with a MIDI Monitor)?

The NE 5HP will record midi to the computer, so it is sending midi with no trouble (just not receiving it back from the computer). I'm recording into Cubase, and Cubase automatically recognises the Electro 5 in the Midi device manager

Well if Cubase is receiving data that's enough to state that cable and USB ports are OK, so I think you should re-check/double check the MIDI Settings once more and if all OK try to reinstall the latest NE5 OS.
