Nord Lead 3 Librarian/Patch Editor for Mac OS

Postby 23skidoo » 11 Sep 2019, 04:06

Hello everyone.

For those of you with a Nord Lead 3, I've written a native, modern Mac app which behaves very similarly to the modern Nord Sound Manager, but for the Nord Lead 3. I'm ready to offer it to a few beta testers who are willing to be careful and thorough in their testing. If anybody's interested, give me a shout.

Before you ask: it will never be available for Windows, and it's very unlikely to be made for Linux, although I might consider doing one that handles ALL the Nords for Linux, but that's off in the very distant future when I want to give a s*** about either GTK or QT, neither of which interest me right now.

Update: Please note that the software is now out of beta. You can download it here: https://github.com/malacalypse/NordLead3Librarian

Yes please! I've got problems transferring sound banks to my Nord Lead 3 - I've tried using the librarian on a PC (I am Mac based); I've tried using Midi OX instead and tweaking the timing settings to values that have worked for another user to no avail!

OT: then maybe you should try a different MIDI interface (on the Mac, are you using or tried to use SysEx Librarian? )

Sysex Librarian is great when you want to just backup entire banks as they are, or the whole synth. But it doesn't parse apart the patches, or allow you to move them around from bank to bank or within banks, or rename them, or combine your patches in part with other saved patches and re-upload the set to another bank. For that you need a program that can parse the sysex and manipulate the various patches individually, keeping track of each bank and its assigned slots at the same time. That's what the Nord Sound Manager (and my Nord Lead 3 Librarian) software does for you, in addition to handling the sysex dump and load to/from the devices.

Hello! First post here on the Nord forum. I am very interested in the Beta version of the Librarian/Patch Editor for the Nord Lead 3. I was actually directed to this forum post by the creator of SysEx Librarian. I just wrote to find out whether it would be able to parse out individual patch sysex messages from bulk dumps coming from the Nord Lead 3. The answer as you all probably know is "no" but he kindly pointed to me to this forum. If it is still possible to take part in Beta testing the program I would be grateful for a chance to try it out. Thanks!

I've run across this thread a few time on different boards - Are you still working on this?

I have a rack and keys and would be interested in trying things out between the two.

Thanks!
