The strangest thing happened at rehearsal last night. My NP4 was being used as a MIDI controller for my NS3C. It's been a fun, simple and stable setup.
In the middle of a tune, I notice that the organ section has spontaneously turned on in the B panel. Remember, I'm showing only the A panel on the NS3C, so it wasn't a button I hit. I then look down at the NP4, and it's showing a transpose +1 menu. I never use transpose.
Strange, I think. I power cycle the NP4 and of course turn off the organ section.
And then it happened again, and again, and again, and again. Maybe a dozen times during the evening?
I eventually put a stop to the nonsense by going to the MIDI menu on the NP4 and telling it not to transmit CCs. Even though the front menu shows "Transpose +1", all notes I played were transmitted properly, e.g. no transpose.
I haven't had time to seriously debug the issue yet, but -- for starters -- has anyone seen something similar? I'm using no other external gear, and a pedal each for damper and leslie, so I don't think it's that. At a minimum, I'll update the OS from v2.00 and try again.

Re: Is My Nord Piano 4 Haunted?
Since I don’t have a lot of experience with MIDI on the Nords, all I can offer for troubleshooting is to see if it’s a problematic MIDI cable.

Re: Is My Nord Piano 4 Haunted?
perhaps unrelated? you're sending midi from the NP4 to the NS3, but are not sending midi back to the NP4 from the NS3 (I assume). Therefore, I think that the transpose thing is isolated to the NP4, so I would suspect the transpose button is faulty and triggering itself somehow. Perfectly normal that outgoing midi data stream was not affected. The Nord transpose function is internal to Nord instruments and does not alter outgoing midi data. The exception is on a Stage, outgoing data on the Global channel is NOT transposed, but outgoing data on External channel (if External Section is engaged) IS transposed.
Per Controller Chart for NS3, Panel Focus is cc #8, Organ Enable is cc#9. Per the same chart for NP4, cc numbers 8 and 9 are not used, so that's pretty much of a mystery.
Updating OS doesn't seem likely to produce a different result, but the beautiful thing about that strategy is that it's quick, easy and free.
Good luck! Please keep us posted.
Bless, Pablo

Re: Is My Nord Piano 4 Haunted?
Update: the NP4 is no longer sending CCs that affect the NS3. So far so good.
Instead, it appears I have one or more buttons on the NP4 that jump around as I play. Last time, it was the transpose button. Tonight, it was the reverb selector. The selector was jumping around at warp speed, which -- of course -- would make it unplayable as a stand alone instrument. Or perhaps an interesting experimental effect.
I've updated the NP4 to V2.22, removed extraneous equipment, and swapped out all cables. Thankfully, I still have my NP2 which is no slouch.
The situation on the NP4 looks grim. Any thoughts?
Thanks

Re: Is My Nord Piano 4 Haunted?
Closing this one off as I have been unable to reproduce the symptoms no matter what I try. My best guess is that I had a flaky power issue which caused the strange behavior. But I can't prove it, so ... we wait.
