Postby araro63 » 27 Aug 2019, 15:38

Hello to all Guys,
I'm Antonio, and I'm writing from Modena.
I'm church organist and I'm purchase one year later my best Nord C2
Now, I'm search a best solution for connect the amplifier in the two site of rear Jack's.
But I don't no which acceptable solution is possible for don't have a low quality of sound.
Question: are yet amplified the two jack's in exit?
which power is necessary to use for the perfect exit of sound?
how many dimension are required for have a sound similar to church pipe organ?
in the headphones the sound is very fine: Can I have the same sound even in cases to use for a wedding? :ke :keyboard2: :keyboard2: yboard:
thanks a lot for your precious suggestions!!

The outputs are not amplified, so You need to have either powered speakers, or a keyboard amplifier, or run via a PA system.
How to dimension the amplification depends very much on Your sound preference and what size/type of venue/audience You will be be playing.
It also depends on how much You are able to carry to gigs...

hello,
thanks a lot. precious info.
Normally I'm play in the church, when not is available any pipe organ.
The request is based also which inpedence (resistance) is in exit of outpouts (4 or 8 or other value ion ohms)
This value is most important because knowing that value I can ask the dealer for the type of amplifier.
Do you know this?
thanks and sorry for the disturb

I think You're worried about the wrong part of the chain...

The signal chain consists of 3 things: Sound source, amplifier and loudspeaker.
Your C2D is only a sound source. The output is line level (non-amplified) sound.
To get any audible sound You need to add an amplifier and a loudspeaker.
These 2 can either be combined, as in powered loudspeakers, combined keyboard combo amplifier, etc.
Or they can be separate as in a powered mixer and passive loudspeakers, or just a standalone power amplifier and passive loudspeakers.

The 4 or 8 Ohms question is between amplifier and loudspeaker. Not between sound source and amplifier.

So to clarify - You can go and look for any amplification+loudspeakers You want - the C2 will work with all of them.

If You choose to go with separate amplifier and loudspeakers You will need to check the minimum impedance of the amplifier isn't bigger than the impedance of the loudspeakers (per channel, and there's a bit of math if You combine several speakers on one channel).
It is ok to have loudspeaker with impedance that is higher than the amplifiers lowest impedance. It will result in less max power, but the difference is barely audible if You optimize or not, so unless You plan on playing at full volume it's ok to mismatch in this direction.

But if You choose powered speakers or a combo this is already optimized in the unit, so You can choose freely among all variants of these that suits Your needs.

So go and see what variants that fit budget, fit Your portability needs, and fit your volume needs.

Me personally, if I was looking for a flexible and simplistic amplification for Your needs, I would go with 2 powered speakers with more power than I really need, so that it would work from small to big venues. I'd solve volume from the C2 master volume (and keep the speakers volume control at a level where the C2 volume isn't close to zero or close to max so that small changes can be done mid-gig). Perhaps buy a couple of speaker stands, but most of the time I would place the speakers on the floor at 45 degree angle upwards and close to me so I'd hear best of all what I'm playing.

We're running Mackie SRM450's in my band (where I play bass guitar) and I really like those, so I'd go with something like that...
But there are many, many, MANY, different makes and models and they all work - they just cost different, have different power, different quality check and they all sound a little different...

ciao, thanks, now is very clear.
at this point I think that a box already amplified: less pieces of transport the better.
I know of small but high quality powered speakers (if I remember Bose well).
Thanks for helping

Absolutely - the Bose systems is one good solution.
They are pricey, but give great sound and also a very good spread of the sound.

Most welcome! :)

hello fieldflower,
probably this is not a good solution, but I'm thought of connecting the C2 to a soundbar
I think that is a alternative solution, because is yet amplified.
Is easy to transport (!), and we found also to 300 watt of power and is also possible to fix directly on the keyboard stand.
Now I'm try.
What do you think about?
thanks a lot.

Technically it will absolutely work.
If it fits Your needs in terms of volume and sound quality only You can answer...

At home I'm using an old PC 5.1 sound system, and although not ideal it's working fine for my humble needs in home environment.
It would also work fine for a "living room gig", but would be very insufficient for any kind of band situation.

If You have possibility to try before buying I'd recommend doing that.
It may work fine, but since it is an unusual solution it may also not work...

Hello, I have read the suggestions by fieldflower.
One question: for a sound bar, PC 5.1 system or similar, should I use the headphones jack?
Regards,
Eduardo
