Aftertouch MIDI NL3

Postby yake85 » 25 Aug 2019, 04:22

Hi,

I''am a little bit of a novis of the Nord lead 3 and I'm trying to find how to make my NL3 not to send aftertouch through MIDI, but without succsess.

Is it possible to make the NL3 not to send aftertouch through MIDI? I have read through the manual but can't figure it out.

Thanks for any reply.

Hi, I am afraid you can't switch it off, there is no setting for that.
What's the actual problem you have with that?
If you are using a DAW or a VST Host you can filter (block) it at that level, in general if you have a computer in your setup you can use it as a "MIDI Filter" (with appropriate apps), otherwise you need a MIDI box that can do the same such as the MIDI Solutions Event Processor.

Thanks for your answer.

In one part of a song I layer the NL3 with another synth. I want to have aftertouch on the sound from the other synth in in most part of the song and no aftertouch in the segment where i layer it the NL3. Since I play that part on NL3 I just don't want the NL3 to transmit aftertouch. Do I make any sense? :D

Unless I am not understanding something, you do not have to use the AT info in your NL3, just do not assign it to any parameter!

But he wants the AT active when playing the same sound on the "other synth" keyboard.

Btw: which "other synth" is it @yake85? Can't you just play that part "light" on the NL3?

So you want aftertouch on the internal sound, but don't want the aftertouch to be recognized by an external synth you're controlling via MIDI? The solution would seem to be to edit that particular sound on your external synth such that the aftertouch does not do anything.

The Lead 3 sends MIDI aftertouch and audio by default, local controls whether is sends audio, so if you just want the aftertouch, try that.
