Thanks, Chuck (from another Chuck).

At some point, I think they're worth checking out. I wouldn't want them at home (I play acoustic pianos), but for gigging it seems I can feed a band monitor into them (with a bit of work) and adjust the volume separately (albeit inconveniently).

I love the idea of small, powerful monitors in my face, so there's that ... it'll be an interesting comparison with a pair of self-powered PA units behind each shoulder. Although we'll need a decent FOH person to make this happen.
I think I have gear issues ....

I used to play with a small TC monitor on the mic stand and it worked ok for live, as you typically get a lot of bleed from other stage monitors to fill in the bottom.

The Nord monitors sound much better than my old small TC, and have replaced my rcf floor wedges at home.

They sound quite ok for acoustics (especially the new white sounds really great, as does eg the Amber), and very nice for epiano etc. They are not tiring to listen to for longer rehearsals, and provide a larger sound than what they look like, so they provide a lot of value, I think.

For live playing, I use in-ears now almost exclusively.

In the studio Implay my Nords though a pair of Genelec 8040A, how the Nord monitor would compare to them?

I am sorry to say but to my eys these new monitors look ugly ja perhaps little cheap. Nord has always made very elegant instruments and they still do. I even like new Grand’s rhodeish look while it’s little clumsy (I can justify this because its action inside).

Because those monitors are red and still take quite a space, there’s too much red and general feeling is unattractive. And very far from vintage Rhodes-look.

But this been said, these are matter of taste. I don’t mind disagreeing with me and soundwise they may be magical, who knows?

I revamp this thread to know if someone is currently using the nord monitor with nord piano and other synth and if they worth the price or there are better alternatives in the same prime range
