Ear tips for IEM: Foam or Silicone?
I have the Mackie MP240, they said you need to try but it was so hard to put the Foam on that I gave up...and kept the medium size silicone ear tips that was originally on it....
And I read that foam could damper the highs too...anyone with experience on both type of ear tips? Did you go customized your ear tips too?

Re: Ear tips for IEM: Foam or Silicone?
I used to use silicone in the past but recently switched to foam when I changed my IEM monitors to the Westone AM PRO 30. Foam keeps them much better in place in my ears, and I dit not notice any dampers of the highs or anything else in terms of sound

Re: Ear tips for IEM: Foam or Silicone?
Mine came with foam tips, but I never got used to those. Hard to put in and didn't feel so well.
Changed to the silicone tips and much happier now.
They are a bi**h to change, but with semi-controlled violence I managed...

Re: Ear tips for IEM: Foam or Silicone?
I’m with Schorsch with using the foam tips with my AM Pro 30s. I started with the silicone, which sounded great, but they kept pushing out, so I would lose the seal and low-end. That doesn’t happen with the foam. As long as you don’t push them in too far, you won’t lose highs. Also, you should compress them before inserting and let them expand within your ear. Initially, they weren’t as comfortable as the silicone, but it only took a day or two to get to the point where the were so comfortable that I was not conscious that I was wearing them.
What’s best for you depends upon your ear shape and tolerance for the different materials. If the silicone would have stayed in my ears I would have stuck with them.

Agree on using foam - for me, getting a good seal is more difficult with silicone. In addition, the foam also stays better in place.
And with bad sealing, you loose all the bass...

Re: Ear tips for IEM: Foam or Silicone?
I like the silicon better than the foam (Westone UM Pro 30). I find them very easy to insert quickly, just pull on the top of my ear to open the ear canal a little, and shove them in. The foam ones require a bit of reshaping / rolling prior to insertion. I find the physical pressure on the ear canal lower and more comfortable with the silicons.
