Re: Juno-106

Hello,

old thread, I know, but since I very much like the first Pad sound in the first post, I wanted to ask, if the author (Hoylander) could provide the sampleset on it's own, i.e. not in .nsmp Format but as WAVs/AIFFs? I would like to use it in other samplers, so that would be great!

Cheers, Chris

Hello,

sure I should still have them, but will have to dig for them. I'll try to find some time for it in the week. Meanwhile please PM me your email adress.

sharing a few sounds that I've sampled myself from my Juno-106. A couple of pads and an "80s" style stack that all has the typical Juno sound.

Enjoy!

*EDIT: Found that I had made a third Juno pad sample that I'm adding to this post now. It is more "anonymous" than the other two pads and has less character, but might be easier to fit in a mix.

These are great! Many many many thank yous!
I was looking for some tasteful pads on my Nord Electro for the Christmas Eve service. These were perfect!

Hello Hoylander and all Nordusers.

I'm a Nord 'newbie' and am getting to know my shiny new Electro 6D. Thankyou so much for these Juno106 Samples, they are great. I'd be interested how you achieved the quality and how you used the sample editor to manipulate the sound.

Thanks for sharing. :yourock: :thanks:

Thank you. I doubt I do it any different than other people here, but a few pointers:
- Sample every 4th, that gives you root key +/- a whole step up and down from each sample, which is sufficient for most cases.
- Since the Juno is not velocity sensitive I just recorded the samples manually, but in other cases I suggest you make a midi file that records the notes for you to make sure you get the exact same velocity across the board.
-Obviously turn off effects such as reverb and delays when you sample. The Juno chorus is an exception, I left it on since it such a big part of the Juno character.
-Work a bit on getting the loops as smooth as possible. You can use the function that copies the loop points to all other samples but you'll still need to check this a bit individually for each sampled key. With the Juno I just tried to get in sync with the chorus rate.
-Download the sound to your Nord and play with it, go back and adjust individual sample levels if needed and that's it. At least how I do it.
