Magnets and Nord Piano

Postby tobonthemoon » 13 Apr 2019, 07:41

Hey there

I'm using a Nord Piano 3 on stage. Now we have a new stand, that looks like a real piano. I just put the Nord on it and it sort of looks like I played a real piano.
Really cool. Now, the guy who build the thing for me used strong magnets to put it together and to make it very easy to set it up, transport it etc.

Well, a friend of mine who's really into Physics told me yesterday: hm, don't you think that a magnet could be risky for an electronical device such as an epiano?
Now, I don't know … and I wanna ask you guys. Do you think magntes near the Nord might be risky? Harddisc? Sound? Keys?

Thanks in advance

keep on plaing!

T.

Uhm... as strong as those magnets may be, they are static and should do no harm; tell/ask your friend about magnets in the speakers then, which are not small either: shouldn't they be a problem too, if put very close (studio monitors) or on top? Many home DPs have speakers inside so... I don't think that's a problem.

PS: there is no hard disk in the Nord, only Flash memory

I googled "magnets effect on electronics" and found several interesting pieces on this subject, including this one: https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/do-you-ne ... m-magnets/ You could also call the electronic engineering department at your local college or university and ask to speak to a prof, assistant prof or even a knowledgeable grad student about this - they might actually appreciate your question.
