Newbie here. My goal is to use use my Stage Classic to play all the "B" slots in the stage2 EX while using my stage EX2 to play the "A" Slots. Seems pretty basic and to be the gist of what dual kb is supposed to do I thought. Tried to follow what seemed to be basic instructions in the manual but after lots of time spent, best I could do was to have both instruments play the A slots, but that doesn't help. I updated to latest OS on both instruments to be sure the OS wasn't the problem.

Can someone tell me what menu I go to and what settings to use on both the stage and the stage 2 EXto accomplish my goal.

PS: you probably have set the MIDI channels improperly, first of all switch off the Global MIDI on both keyboards (or set it to different channels each, then on the Stage Classic use one of its Extern section, assigned to the NS2 DualKB MIDI Channel (factory default should be 16, check it in NS2 MIDI Menu) to control it.

Thanks Max. Has to be an issue with one of my keyboards. Global midi on both keyboards is set to off. The stage classic Extern section is assigned to the NS2 DualKB's Midi Channel (16). The Stage 2 is playing only Panel A, like it should, which is great. The stage 2 is also receiving MIDI messages like it should (the midi light blinks when I play the stage classic), but no sound is heard. I spent a lot of time trying alternatives to no avail. I did read applicable portions of the manual as well. Maybe I'll try updating the software again . Thanks for your time

I doubt it is a matter of software update. Have you checked also the Panel A/B settings on the NS2? Could be that you have set the same channel on Panel A and DualKB (?)

It would be good if you list all your MIDI settings and physical connections

PS: sorry if I ask but are Extern on NS Classic and Dual KB on NS2 both "active" (turned on)?

Everything seems fine (apart Local OFF on Classic: curious, are you using it only as a master? You could keep Local ON and switch off the sections, rather ), only missing info is:

- confirmation of the MIDI Channel you have set for EXTERN A (or B?) on the Classic (should be 16 but I suggest you also try 4 = Panel B)
- confirmation you have activated Dual KB on the NS2 Programs where you want Panel B to be controlled only by the Classic

I was going to use Classic only as master, but I just switched local On the classic again to see what would happen.
Midi Channel for classic for Extern MIDI A Channel = 16 (also tried Extern MIDI B Channel = 4 as also suggested)
Dual KB on NS2 is active/lit up and there are active instruments lit up in panel B as well
Still nothing audible coming out when I play the Classic (midi light flashes on NS2 but still no sound)

I think I've tried just about everything...I'd rather not quit trying because it's something I really want to do, but I don't want to waste your time. Grateful that you looked at my setup and at least confirmed my settings were ok.

Last thing to check: output routing of NS2 Panel B instruments, see if they are all on 1/2 (can you play them from NS2, switching Dual KB off I mean?) and volume setting of Ns Classic Extern (set it at max)

I think I got it! In addition to the MIDI menu in the NS2, where I put Midi Global Channel: Off, I tried tinkering with the Output Routing Mode in the System Menu on the NS2. I changed that from Global to Program and it actually started working. The whole time I was messing with the extern and midi sections of both instruments, but I didn't realize I needed to change settings in the System Menu of the NS2. Apologies if you had suggested that earlier and I missed it. Thanks again for all your time helping me!
