Volume Pedal

Post by mjtramonte1 »

I have a simple split with synth bass in the lower zone A slot and Organ in the upper zone B slot. I am using a Roland EV 5 pedal. I would like to keep the volume constant for my bass, but be able to still use the volume pedal for emphasis on the Organ. I have been searching for a way to defeat the volume pedal for the lower (bass) zone but to no avail….what am I missing. Many Thanks

Hi and welcome to the forum!

The way to use the volume pedal only on selected sounds is to use the MORPH function, assign the Control Pedal to the volume of the volume you want to change, and connect the pedal via the Control Pedal and NOT the swell/colume pedal plug.
Setting the morh basically means press and hold the MORPH button for the Control pedal and then move the volume level of the organ from zero (or where you want it to start) to max volume. Be sure to check the MORPHING section in the manual if you have problems setting it up.

Good luck!
Johannes

Never thought to look at the Morph option. I have used a Kurz for years so my initial thought was to weed through the settings until I found the disable switch. Everything is hard the first time, again many thanks.

MORPH!! One of the most overlooked, underused, and amazing features of the Nord Stage models.

The morph function should do exactly what you want.
On a Hammond Organ the Bass tends to retain it's presence
When the volume is reduced.
This may be similar.
I believe this morph feature will
allow you to set a minimum volume & a maximum volume &
the range that the pedal works in.

Not sure about the Electro 4, but the way I do it on my Stage 3 when I’m not pairing it with a laptop is to have two Expression pedals going into a MIDI Expression module that then goes into the 5-pin MIDI input on the NS3. In the MIDI Expression software I have each pedal set to transmit the MIDI CC numbers for the Control Pedal Morph and the Mod Wheel Morph. That way I can always assign the volume of individual (or multiple) sound sources to each of the pedals.

Thanks for your reply, I wanted to delete my post here, since it's not relevant in this section. Have posted a separate topic in Electro space.
