sorry for what may be an obvious question - i tour with a Nord Lead 2 X anniversary - in case of the unthinkable happening - ie loss or damage - am i right in my understanding that a Nord Lead 2x will accept my backup and perform precisely as the anniversary with no need to do anything more than load the back up?

The player is adamant that he wants to take the anniversary on the road.

You should test it yourself to be sure you have the procedure correctly working beforehand! But, if your question is "is the anniversary any different from a normal 2x" the answer is no - they work exactly the same and will accept each other's backups just fine.

Thank you so much - now that any doubt is dispelled , I will indeed get hold of a 2x and transfer over to ensure procedure is correct.

Great, and keep a copy of your backup programs in at least 2 places - one online (e.g. in a shared dropbox for the whole band to access) and one in a physical media of some kind on your tour. A quality durable USB key is a good place for these things. It should also go without saying that you should not store that USB key in the same cases as the equipment, but rather your personal luggage or backpack. And the online copy is if your backpack is stolen or left in a hotel room when you need it.
