Connecting iPad to Electro 5 to learn a song

Post by Larrygav1962 »

So after 30 years away from playing keyboards (life got in the way) and recently hurting my back, I decided to buy a Nord Electro 5 and start playing at home again. I am old school from learning a song and use my ears to pick out and learn a song. I am trying to figure out how to plug my iPad/iPhone (lightening connector) to the Nord and use my headphones to hear the song and play along at the same time. Is this possible and if so, how do I do this.

Plug the iPad into the monitor in jack, and your headphones into the headphone out jack (both on the back of the Electro).

All iPads have a headphone-out jack, so you'll just need a male-to-male stereo (TRS) patch cord to connect to the Nord's Monitor In jack.
(Newer iPhones with only the lightning port and no headphone jack will still work like this, with a lightning-to-headphone adapter.)

Thank you both for your responses. Will have to order a male to male TRS cable. Appreciate the information.

Make sure you order a TRS 1/8" jack, the small jack, not the classic regular Jack, the 1/4"....

Apple is removing the headphone jack from the new 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pros.
