Re: help! connecting nord drum 3p midi to computer
Hi p3p3p3p3, welcome to the forum!
If you are able to get it working with your iPad, I think the basic MIDI settings of your 3p are fine, I think it's the settings in Ableton / your Mac that you need to check. I don't have a Mac, no experience with Ableton, so I cannot help you.
Just some general tips/remarks:
-Your USB-MIDI interface ('cable') is a MIDI device, I think in Ableton you should be able to select it and use the same MIDI channel as in the app, so that's probably MIDI channel 10 if you didn't change anything on the 3p.
-The 3p (only) outputs the 6 notes as set in the MIDI settings, so if you want to control sounds or trigger other stuff by playing the pads, check the note numbers that Ableton receives, couple them to whatever you want to trigger.
-If you want to use the 3p as sound module, send the mentioned notenumbers on MIDI channel 10
Hope this helps,
Albert

Re: help! connecting nord drum 3p midi to computer
-With the manager software you need to connect both MIDI in and out, but if that's not the problem and the software is unable to see the MIDI interface, maybe something is wrong indeed. Perhaps try another MIDI port, the interface is preferably directly connected to your computer. Very cheap brandless MIDI interfaces can be unreliable, it's not just a cable you see, and even if it were, some manufacturers would still manage to mess it up. If you're performing you want to have reliable gear.
