Hello everybody, I've just purchased a Nord Stage 3 ( compact 73 ). I'm thrilled and absolutely amazed by the marvellous sound, especially the grand pianos but also the hammond B3. I play a lot of classical music and also blues/jazz. But the sound is only beautiful in headphones ( marshall, sennheiser ) and correspondingly bad in my Adam AX3 active studio monitors.
Can this be solved ? Do active studio monitors exist that produce the very same quality that my headphones are producing ? Do you have to add a mixer of some kind ?
If anyone knows the answer I shall be very grateful to receive your recommendation in the necessary detail ( my technical knowledge is sadly limited ).

I use Genelec 8040A...Awesome but not Cheap....But my Stage 2 was not Cheap as well when I bought it in 2011 then, I thought it deserved the equivalent in Studio monitor..

Genelecs (long-since discontinued, but still phenomenal 1032A) too in the studio; FBT StageMaxx 12Ma (best I've ever used or tried) for live use.
The best keyboard deserves the best monitors!

I use Yamaha HS8s and it sounds amazing. I definitely recommend playing in stereo. Mono gave me serious problems when I just used one channel of a keyboard amp.

Ive gone with M Audio BX8s and am well happy. Would recommend a pair tho and not go mono.
Re: The best active studio monitors for Nord Stage 3
I’m using a pair of Tannoy Reveal 802, the sound is really good, bass is also sufficient given that it’s a 8” speaker. The only thing that annoys me is a crack each time I switch them off with the power switch at the rear (just off switching, not when switched on surprisingly). Does not happen when using a switchable powerboard which I do now ...

Weren’t you the guy who started a thread that indicated that the M Audio BX8s sounded so bad you thought you may have wasted money on an NS3? If you found a solution to your problem, that’s good to hear. If so, you should post it in your thread.

To the OP: I am very happy with the JBL 305 MKII monitors. A 5” driver is enough for me for all sounds, including piano. You will be surprised how much clean bass they put out. Check out some of the online reviews.

Can you please show me in that post where I said that the BX8s sounded bad please? The title of the thread was speaker position - this was because I needed help on the positions, not on a speaker choice. I did say maybe I've wasted money on NS3 - this was because I had been told the samples were brilliant, which I now know they are after adjusting my speakers. Notwithstanding all of this, I have not said the speakers sounded bad, I said that the sound was not right and so please do not misquote. The day after I posted that message, I thanked 3 replies for their advice and I havent been able to get onto this forum again until recently. So thank you too for your advice there but please don't say what I should post in my threads.
