Hi, I'm new to daws and was wondering if it would normally be possible to record both nla1's audio and midi notes into a pc via audio interface(usb).
I'd like to sketch ideas by recording the sound and at the same time store the midi of the notes played for future reference
thx

The answer is yes.
The MIDI input is separate from any audio input, so You can do that simultaneously.

Thx,
any suggestion in regard to what daw software would allow to record audio and midi tracks simultaneously?

Probably most of them. They are different data. MIDI recording is not memory or processing heavy as audio.
If they do not, then record midi first, then make a loop so the midi plays the engine of your synth and record that.

All of them I think, the first Daw's started in the 80's with Midi only so, there is no reason that they cannot do both at the same time, with audio on top of Midi...

Which allows for (pause for contemplation if it's important that it was a "live" recording) editing before recording...
(Additional pause for contemplating if a keyboard is needed at all or if the recording could be done completely by pianoroll and SW sounds... )
I would believe all the DAW's allow for recording MIDI and sound at the same time.
If there's any limitation it's in the audio interface, that it should have MIDI in and allow simultaneous recording with sound. I'd guess all that have a MIDI in port would allow this.

Re: record both audio and midi simultaneously?
And i would say that this should be considered the "best practice" when working with external instruments and a DAW: always record MIDI *and* audio.
MIDI allows you to edit the track (like fixing the notes you played, or change some details); once done, *rerecord* audio.
This will allows you to reopen the project years after you sold the keyboards you have today to buy the newest shining NL7.
I have a lot of Cubase projects that i re-master from the 90s and 00s because i haven't kept the audio, and i have sold the external equipment used to record them.
At least, i still have the MIDI data.
