Hello everyone, I would like to know if there is a way to connect my Yamaha DX7 to Nord Stage 2 with a 5-pin midi din cable, and play my ipad connected to Stage 2 through the USB cable, but without the dx7 active no sounds in the Nord. I would only use the Stage as a midi usb interface between the ipad and the DX7. I have already tried several settings on the Stage but I can not get the midi signal to pass without affecting any sound engine. Thank you very much in advance.

Not possible, the Extern Section soft=thru works only if input and output are in the same interface (USB or DIN) and channel, so it is much easier if you connect directly the DX7 to the iPad using a MIDI USB interface or (even better) via Bluetooth using a Yamaha MD BT01

Reading my Juno G manual I've found that i can do it this way, but the ipad will not recognize the Roland without the driver...
Tomorrow i will check this.
