Does anyone have anything similar to the synth solo at the end of In the Beginning by ELP?
Thanks...

Re: Patch request - ELP - In the Beginning
"From" the beginning... you can emulate it with a triangle shape oscillator.

Yes, From the Beginning. Thanks for the correction. I'll give it a try. Thanks.

Re: Patch request - ELP - In the Beginning
Here's my ELP From the Beginning patch. It uses low and high synth sounds together on A/B and has a Rhodes just for doing keyboard bass. Hope you like it - take care.

Re: Patch request - ELP - In the Beginning
Hi, I still have a Stage 2 for the time being and my band will be covering From the Beginning. I used the same approach of using synths in Slots A and B to get the octave spread - mine sounds "OK", but yours sounds better. Do you still have a Stage 2 version of this patch? I would love to compare notes regarding all the other settings you used - i.e., specific wave forms, glide settings, envelope, wet/dry, amp sim, etc.
Also, if you have experience with the actual Moog settings that Emerson used... I don't own a Moog, but I'd love to learn any basic Moog facts that relate to this sound, if you'd care to share them. For example, which Moog did he use? - what knobs would he have turned? (it would be fun to look at a picture of a Moog control panel and think about how someone would have achieved that sound). Thanks!
Kevin

I have the Stage 2 version posted at nord-stage-2-programs-ns2p-ns2pb-files-f15/ten-classic-rock-and-other-programs-t7676.html and you might find the following link helpful for other Stage 2 programs as well: nord-stage-2-programs-ns2p-ns2pb-files-f15/stage-2-for-those-new-to-programming-t16863.html.
I believe Keith Emerson used an ARP synthesizer on this song - the Stage 2 controls used would include the MOD ENV DECAY, FREQ, MOD ENV, and RES (resonance). Learning more about the Stage 3 after the post above, it is possible to get two notes using OSC1 and OSC2 on the Stage 3 (one Synth slot). Obwanz has a Stage 3 version posted before mine that I really like where synth effects are morphed to the Mod Wheel for sounds at the end of the song. You might want to try that after loading the Stage 2 program and see what you come up with. I hope this helps. Take care.
