Re: Using Stage 2 with Roland XV-5050

Hello Mr.G.
Thanks for your quick answer.
I switched global midi to midi 2 while the xv5050 is listening to channel 1.
The strange sound is gone ...so problem solved...but..
With this setting my expr.pedal (connected with organ swell input on nord stage) is not changing my Sound Module volume anymore.
My settings in the extern menu are:
Extern midi mode global
Extern midi A midi1
Extern midi A Volume 126
Extern midi A prog change 21
Extern midi A cc00 :87
Extern midi A cc32 :00 (progchange works!!)
Extern midi A cc number 11
Extern midi A cc value off
Wheel:yes
A.touch yes
ctrl ped:yes
Send Swell yes
Vel curve : Norm
Send on load :on

In my opinion is the setting Swell:yes ok for changing the volume from vx5050 with my expr.pedal.
In this situation when moving my expr. pedal I see the red led on xv5050 react.
Conclusion:Code is send but SM does not react.

What can I do??

Here are a few things you can try:
1. Get a MIDI monitor program (they are free and many, MIDI-OX for win, Sysexxer for linux, I do not know for macs. Then you can see what message is being send on screen and debug from there.
2. Try changing the pedal from the Organ Swell to Ctrl-pedal input, then you can select to control swell from that pedal too (you have to dig into the menus, sorry I forgot which one, but it is in the manual).
3. Maybe the XV does not respond to the CC that the Nord is controlling from the Swell, perhaps you can change that in the XV, but the CCs are fixed in the Nords, so option 2 might be worth a try.

Hello Mr G.
Problem solved .
Thanks for your help.
Pedal switch to ctrl input did the trick.

Thanks a lot.

Well now everything is working and I start programming the next problem is there.

Just a question.
Is it possible to have one voice on slot A and a second (different) voice on slot B?
Both voices coming from xv5050.

When possible what is the correct setting in the Extern menu??

You have 2 Extern sections, one per slot, so depending on how you set it maybe you can.

Hello, sorry for resurrecting an ancient topic here, I came across it after some serious googling!

I have owned the xv5050 for quite a number of years now, but I could definitely do with it working via USB rather than MIDI ports.

Now I come from that future that is now windows 10 where the vast majority of my windows 7 drivers have worked without any issues so to find a custom driver for the xv was a god send. Of course this would be one I cant get to work!
I can get the installer to start and attempt to install the driver where it fails.

Am I barking up the wrong tree in thinking this should work and is there any other later drivers for other devices that I/anyone could modify for the same outcome.

You mentioned Windows 10, so I am guessing that you are asking how to connect your XV-5050 to Windows 10,
and that your question is not about any type of direct connection between your Nord Stage 2 and your XV-5050.
Am I understanding your question correctly?

If yes, Roland has never provided a supported driver for the XV-5050 to work even for Windows 7.
But many have found a workaround to get it to work with Windows 7 or Windows 8.
I posted on January 30 2016 in this thread:
http://forums.musicplayer.com/ubbthread ... ost2751227
and described how I got my XV-5050 to connect to Windows 7.

While I do not know of anyone who has confirmed that they have gotten their XV-5050 to connect to Windows 10,
the instructions I posted in the thread above are worth trying on Windows 10.

Afternoon

After much playing around got it working in Windows 10 :thanks:

So I started with your method to no avail so I attempted you method with the Windows 8.1 driver instead. It went exactly how you described accept when it was stuck with the greyed out next it didn't install like yours did.

So I went back to the Windows 7 driver and added the line but with ;;Windows10 above it. Right clicked the INF file pressed install a minute later says complete and it works.

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction you a life saver
