How big of a difference is there between the ns2ex synth and the ns3 synth? I know they mentioned the lead a1 in the demo video.
But is there an actual full a1 under the hood? Or is it just based on the a1?
I'm not a super synth guy. But the demo video is amazing.
Also, can anybody tell me how much free space is on the ns3 when you get it from the store?
I have an ns2ex now, but was debating on upgrading.
But it's annoying how little memory the ns2ex has.

You're talking about synth sample space, right? The answer is, it doesn't matter. It's all re-usable, you can put whatever you want in there, they just pre-fill it with a good variety, which is a time saver and makes it more useful right out of the box. What would be the point of leaving a large amount of it empty? You'd simply have fewer sounds available when you first started using it (and would have to spend more time loading more of the sounds to audition them). There's no advantage to putting a new sound over nothingness compared to putting a new sound over an old one you don't use, which you can also always get back.

Re: ns3 synth vs ns2 synth vs lead a1
This should really go into a sticky... Maybe we should add a FAQ, that would link to some of these threads on:
... or some such
- Does the NS3 really hold an A1? Really? Why not? What is different?
- What is the difference between the NS3 and previous generations (NS2, NE5)?
- Should I buy a NS3 or an NE6?
- Can the NS3 play horns?
- How is the organ?
... or some such

Re: ns3 synth vs ns2 synth vs lead a1
The Stage 3 synth engine is based upon the A1, but it isn't the same.
1) 2 parts (on Slots A & B) instead of 4.
2) Lowpass-highpass combo instead of the TB filter.
3) No ensemble effect, but access to all of the Stage's other built-in effects, including EQs, amp simulator, compressor, delay, etc.
4) higher polyphony on the Stage 3.
5) additional "super wave" waveforms on the Stage.
6) Use of samples as sound source for the synth.

You forgot the most "important" one:
