Re: Stage 3 - "Lost" Program Numbers
The 1.40 update changed the program bank system. What you're seeing is part of that change.

Although I'm in favor of keeping up with updates be aware of the, sometimes big and/or unsuspected, changes they bring : NS3 - Update History
The following statement is not true. The previous statement is true.

Re: Stage 3 - "Lost" Program Numbers
In retrospect, I am not a fan of the program bank renumbering at all. It's kludgy, non elegant, and frustrating. Anytime an end user has to create a spreadsheet lookup to find program midi mappings, you know your dealing with a huge kludge.
I can only hope Clavia is working on a more reasonable solution, although I am not holding my breath.

I think the main issue with this is that the end user has to create (or locate someone else's creation of) that spreadsheet. Nord should provide that chart of Program Locations with their MIDI Program Change equivalents in a manual appendix. Other than that, really, I think numeric keypad mode is very useful, and they can't change the fact that their keypad has only 5 digit buttons. I guess the other option would have been to only use Program Changes 11-15, 21-25, 31-35, 41-45 and 51-55, which would have meant using more LSB banks. I can see where that could have been conceptually simpler, but it would have broken anyone's existing system (i.e. if they already were using some app or device that was sending MIDI Program Changes to their NS3... they would have had to reprogram all the work they had already done, since the numbers for the existing programs would have changed). And really, you'd probably still want a chart handy, unless you're good at remembering, for example, that N is he 14th letter of the alphabet (because you'd still need to know the LSB number for each bank).
