Connecting an IPAD to Electro 3

Postby katkat22 » 31 May 2018, 10:23

Hi

I've had my Electro 3 for many years - still love it but would like to control the volume of mp3s we use as backings in our duo. So - I would like to know if there is a way to connect the iPad to the Nord Electro 3 via USB or such and then use one of the sliders/knobs to control the volume of our backing tracks? Any help appreciated.

Nope. But if you're looking for a more convenient way to control the volume coming out of the iPad on its way into wherever you currently have it plugged in, something like this might do the trick...

As a corollary to anotherscott's suggestion:
If you'd like hands-free adjustment of your iPad's volume while performing, you could use a passive volume pedal.

(This is not the same thing as an expression pedal, although some pedals do both.)

I don‘t trust the 3,5mm-Connection Cables. This is, why I use the Focusrite iTrack Dock, which has a big Volume Controlwheel and regular Inputs/Outputs to use with a Mixer. So you can control the volume of the mp3-Songs with this device or at the Mixer. And it‘s a low price (about 145€)!

That looks quite elegant.

But I would never buy a dock solution for iPhone or iPad. It’s a given that the form factors of the devices will change, so upgrading the device will likely obsolete the docking solution at the same time.
