Re: Problem with sustain in high octave

Thanks for the upload, wireshock... I quick-compared it to my own Nord E4 (Imperial Grand), AND my for-real Boston upright (eight years old, well-maintained). What I heard on the G and above seems consistent, both in relative ring volume and taper length, to both my instruments.

Andril, is wireshock's recording representative of what you're hearing?

It's similar to wireshock's recording on both keyboards I just tested. There are of course some differences as to whether the dampers stop at F# or G (depending on the piano model), but otherwise it sounds similar to me.

My real acoustic grand (where the dampers actually stop at F) has way MORE ringing, so my Nords have comparatively more moderate sustain in the non-damped upper range :-)

Was there any resolve to this issue? I noticed same thing the other night. Never really noticed it and all the sudden it seams so much more apparent.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

@theheater: If you say you noticed it "all of a sudden" did you update from a really old release to the latest just now?

But I don't think there is consensus this is an issue; pianos just are like that :-)

I just noticed the same issue. Notes above the last octave above G have way too much sustain. It seems like there would be a menu option to turn that off.

I'm thinking the same thing, that the sustain in the non-dampered high strings is higher and louder than in any other keyboard I've owned.

Quite honestly, I don't play up there very often for what I'm doing with the NS4, but I have definitely noticed it.
