Hi, this is my first post, I bought a new Nord Stage 3 88, im too happy.
But i have a little problem
My problem is:
Its when i try to use the "Monitor in", what i do si connecting my "iPad, iPhone or PC" to my
"Nord Stage 3" through a cable with two (male) 3.5 mm stereo jacks.
I have tried with 3 different cables of the same type but different brand.
And always get very loud noises when connecting and disconnecting. And then i
hear intermittent noises, intermittent pops, clicks, static, etc.
I have to disconnect the cable with two (male) 3.5 mm stereo jacks
and plug in again to get off the noises. If i turn off the keyboard and i dont remove the noises my headphones sound too loud with a clip or strange noise.
Sometimes everything is fine, and i can connect and disconnect the cable without a problem
I listen the sound of my Nord thorugh Headphones connected to the "Headphones
output" and I have tried with another 2 headphones and i get the same results.
Is it normal? What do i have to do?
Because is so anoying and that pop and clicks hurt my ear, is too loud, even
with the volume of the iPad/PC at 0.

Re: Monitor in, issues NS3 88
Strange indeed.
I've been practicing the last couple of days with my Samsung 8+ phone with a similar cable and don't have these issues at all.
Do you have any other equipment that you can test these cables on ?
This to determine if all cables are defective or the Nord monitor-input has issues.
Could even be your iPad, iPhone or PC.

The following statement is not true. The previous statement is true.

Loud noises when connecting or disconnecting are not unusual.
But noises while everything is connected is NOT normal.
Popping and clicking usually indicates an intermittent connection.
This means it's likely either the cable, the Nord's 3.5mm jack, the audio source's 3.5mm jack, or a combination of all three have a defect. Try to isolate it to one device.
Best of luck. Let us know what you find.

Re: Monitor in, issues NS3 88
Thanks pterm and RichardG for your feedback
I did a test, I made the same kind of connections, but instead of connecting the iPad/iPhone -> Nord -> Headphones,
I connected iPad/iPhone -> PC -> Headphones, and i am getting the same noises. I can conclude that my Nord is fine.
I continued doing tests with the Nord changing cables and with an iPod, and I discovered that noises happened because I'm almost always without shoes and i touch the floor and Nord or iPad or Cable, with shoes on there are no noises only when I play without them.
Must be ground noises or something related. Everything is fine with my Nord!

This might be a static electricity problem... sliding feet in socks over carpet or flooring can generate a static electric charge that "sparks" to metal or wires. Try first touching something larger and metal (like your keyboard stand or the chassis of the nord (stay away from buttons, connectors and displays) before you touch anything in the monitor circuit. If the problem goes away, this confirms the theory.
Be aware that you cannot feel static electricity discharging below 3000V, but voltages like that can easily destroy electronics.
I am happy that the problem wasn't your Nord. Thanks for your sharing your result with the forum.
