I'm having difficulty getting my Drum 3P to talk to my laptop. I've bought a MIDI to USB lead to connect the two gadgets together but the Nord Drum Manager is showing no connection.
What am I doing wrong, please?

Re: How to Connect Drum 3P to Computer via MIDI
Hi Ash,
I presume you downloaded the latest version of the Nord Drum 3 manager from the website. Was your MIDI interface properly installed on your computer, or is it a class compliant interface that doesn’t require driver installation? Did you select your interface in the settings in the manager software? /Does the Nord Drum 3 manager recognize the interface?
You have to connect both MIDI In and Out, connect the MIDI Out to the MIDI In port on the Nord drum, and MIDI In to MIDI Out, if it’s not clear which is which, try if swapping them helps..

Re: How to Connect Drum 3P to Computer via MIDI
Hi Albert, thanks for your reply.
I guess I have it connected wrong. I'm running a lead with MIDI IN and MIDI OUT at the end connected to the ND3P, and a USB 2 connector going into the laptop, where I have Nord Drum Manager installed. I bought the cable because it was advertised as being a "MIDI Interface cable": https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0739K9RVJ/ ... 576e6d6114
Do I need any other interface software or hardware installed on the laptop?
I've never used MIDI before!

Re: How to Connect Drum 3P to Computer via MIDI
Hi All
Problem solved - it turns out that the MIDI to USB cable that I bought is rubbish! On the advice of Andertons, Guildford UK, I purchased a Roland UM lead, which worked perfectly first time. They did advise me that most cheap cables won't work or, if they do, are unreliable.
I thought I'd post this, just in case other members have a similar problem in future.

Hi Ash,
Glad you got it sorted!
I’m afraid you’re not the first, some cheap interfaces will work ok with simple MIDI data such as a couple of notes, but fail when you want to transfer larger amounts of data, like when transferring banks or an OS update.
A couple of other examples:

Have fun playing your 3P.
Cheers,
Albert
