Re: Nord Stage 3 - hammond B3 Sound

Postby reinski » 25 Mar 2018, 20:43

I just bought a Nord Stage 3 after owning an NS2 for the past 3 or 4 years and am SO bummed that they changed the B3 section. The C3 chorus sounds totally cheesy and unrealistic and the overall tone is not happening. Not at all as realistic as my NS2 when I A/B them side by side. (Incidentally I owned a B3 for years and have been playing forever). I'm on the verge of sending my back for a refund unless someone out there knows about an update/fix that Nord might be planning.
Any feedback would be much appreciated!!

What’s the OS version you have? The organ section has had a re-make with the updates in 1.33 and 1.36.

@reinski: Make sure you have updated to the latest OS, as @jeffkeys said. The NS3 organ and the rotary emulation is much improved in the latest releases, in particular in 1.36.

I know that the hammond as inscreed a lot, in terms of sound quality since that update, but to my ears the Vibrato/Chorus with leslie on the Slow mode.... still sound weird to me :(

i have the same problem, moving from NS2 to NS3 my main problem is that the organ sound sounds thinner (or weird ) than my NS2
have you got any clue when Nord is going to release a new os update for this? ( i have the 1.36, its better than before but still...)

I can't comment on the NS2 because I don't have one, but I do have an NE5D and a NS3. The NS3 sounds pretty much identical to the NE5, there are some very small differences but really only because there are more adjustable sound parameters on the NE5D than there are on the NS3.

At this point aside from possible small changes (I'd like to see the percussion parameters more accessible) there is not likely going to be any changes to the sound engine, it sounds like it was designed to sound.

Make sure your on the most recent firmware.

The default Leslie horn/rotor balance is a bit shriller than on the Stage 2.

Since OS 1.36, you can adjust it to make the rotor louder and the sound thicker.

I had an Electro 4D, and the Hammond was really good! Now on the Stage, i cant get the same sound :S Help?

Je suis dans le même cas. Je regarde les tirettes du B3 sur les manuels d'utilisateurs comme le XK1 par exemple et je les reproduits sur le NS3
