Don't know if there are fans of The Techno (specifically IDM) in here, but I've been wearing a hole in the new Squarepusher album, it's quite good. I've been hooked on his stuff ever since I heard it playing at Tower Records in Glasgow in '96.

Yes! I didn't know that album yet. Quite melodic and definitely post-dubstep.
Autechre's Confield still gives me a headache; in my opinion music that differs too much from what you're used to (in the case of Confield, almost no melody to speak of) is (initially) rather hard to listen too.

Re: Squarepusher
Ha! I was just listening to Confield, but I switched to Boards of Canada for a break. Better to program to.

I find something like Underworld's Beaucoup Fish or Orbital's green album helps me to concentrate. I must've heard those albums hundreds of times.

Re: Squarepusher
I save Beaucoup Fish for when I'm driving. Sitting and coding stuff gets Second Toughest in the Infants still, it doesn't seem like a day has gone by since I heard that for the first time in college. That's the album that really pulled me into electronica, the more mainstream stuff just wasn't interesting enough.

Re: Squarepusher
After reading all this, I'm very curious to hear that album !
I'd like to find it, but just "The Techno" as keywords are a bit too vague for Google or Amazon or The Pirate Bay. Could anyone help me with a link, or more specific keywords (like a release year, for example)?
Thanks !

Re: Squarepusher
I like this Underworld album best: http://www.allmusic.com/album/beaucoup- ... 0000048296
I've got some of their later work, but somehow I keep coming back to this one.
I only have Squarepusher's first album (Feed me weird things) somewhere. I'm sure allmusic has a complete list of all his albums.

Re: Squarepusher
Thanks, I'll have a look (or rather a listening). In fact, the one I'm most interested is to "post-dubstep" one. I can't help wondering what that means and thus have got to hear it .
