Gone fishing

Postby mjbrands » 02 Feb 2014, 21:37

When I joined the forum halfway through 2011, I didn't anticipate I'd spent so much time reading and responding. I did it because I enjoyed it and it never felt like a chore. Visiting the forum multiple times per day was something automatic, taking a few minutes each time to see if any new users needed to be approved, spam removed, etc.

This is one was pretty funny.

Lately however I find I don't visit the forum very often anymore and I also don't really miss it. My synths hardly get touched these days and some I'm actually selling to make room (space as well as budget) for other things. For example, today I finished building a crate to send my blue Waldorf Q (32 voices, since it has the DSP expansion) to the new owner in Croatia next week.

So what's keeping me busy then... What's been eating up a lot of time lately is the robot soccer team I've been participating in for about a month now. We need to qualify before the 14th of February for the World Cup in Brasil later this year. There is still lots and lot of work to do.

I've very much enjoyed my time on this forum and having used several forums, I can say this is one of the friendliest.

A big thanks to Johannes for keeping this forum running and keeping advertisements off of it with his own money (please consider a donation if you think he's doing a good job). Of course, without all the fun and friendly people on the forum this place wouldn't be worth visiting. :yourock:

If you want to reach me, you can send me a PM via the forum. I might visit from time to time, but who knows...

Cheers,

Mathijs

I, for one, will miss you. I've found your posts sensible, amusing, very readable, but most of all helpful. This forum will be a poorer place without you.

Take care,

I'll second the 6-string man -- this forum has been a better place for active membership of MJBrands. I hope those robotic ball-kickers know they're getting a good deal!

Indeed, I can only say a big :thanks: to Mathijs for all your effort and time spent in being extremely helpful and kind to many fellow users out there!
This forum will be a different place, but that's life ;-).
But I wish you all the best, and in the tradition of rather successful Dutch soccer, good luck for making it to Brasil!!!
:yourock:
Still hope to see you around on occasions. Maybe one day you will get to play some keys again or tweak some knobs ;-)

Cheers & Thank you!!

Hi Mathijs,

I really appreciate your state of mind, always doing things well & fully.
You have great knowledge, but the greatest thing is the way you shared it, with us, here.
I wish you good fortune in what you'll be doing next.
