No response at all on my Wave 2 update enquiry. Usually I receive a response. I hope they fix some of the issues instead of just doing the nsmp v4 compatibility-

The optimistic side of me is that they're working on a bigger update rather than a smaller, incremental update. Nord hasn't ever really abandoned one of their products... have they?

Part of me wonders if some of the bugs revealed some sort of deeper issues with how the Wave 2 is programmed. For instance, the vibratos not syncing across layers -- I definitely consider this to be a bug, and with my very brief experiences with programming, I know sometimes a bug reveals a whole different issue that needs to be tackled first in order to solve the bug. I wonder if this is related to some of the Wave 2 problems.

That and I think they may just have a very slow adoption rate for this board.

I think Nord released this board way before it was ready, honestly.

In all previous Nords, vibrato was a global setting right? Perhaps it wasn't tested fully when they decided to FINALLY! allow it to be a per-preset parameter. That being said, having tried 2 different Wave 2 units, the main LFO wouldn't sync across layers once the patch was saved and re-loaded later regardless of whether the layers were in multi-edit, grouped, or synced to tempo. They do not all start at the same point in their cycles, so when one layer's LFO is at the top, another may be at the bottom of its cycle. LFO is the only section with this problem -- even effects that modulate like the phaser don't do this. Some people seem to be able to get this working, but for me it was a dealbreaker along with receiving a brand new unit that was already defective the second time around and various other bugs. Hope the Wave 3 gets it right!

Yea...I only use vibrato if it a single-layer patch for now until they solve this. It just doesn't sound good, especially when I have no problem running two oscillators with vibrato on my Prophet 6 which I have setup above my Wave 2.

I REALLY want to like this board. I have a blast getting lost in layering and improvising on a blank preset on this thing that reminds me of when i first got into synthesis. But there are, like you said, some issues that may be big dealbreakers for a lot of players to justify putting it in their live rigs.

I'm probably going to end up ordering a Prophet X to see if that will fill my need for a single board for synth and samples. Won't have any of these issues, and the interface is about as logically laid out as it can be for a synth of its complexity. It also supports multi-velocity (up to 20!) samples per key and has 50 gb of user storage -- wish I could remove the factory data too like Nord allows, but still 50 gb is a lot! The way controllers are assigned is not all that far off from the morphs on a Nord either.

There's a strong argument for simplicity, but I think in this case Nord didn't think it through. Nord has the Wave in a lot of artist videos but those artists don't seem to use it anywhere else, whereas Stage, Piano and Grand are commonplace. I don't think it caught on the way they were hoping it would.

Funny, I was just in a conversation yesterday with someone in a Facebook group about how they prefer the Wave 2 over their Prophet X just due to the ease of interface/workflow. That's definitely a discussion to be had, as those are the two boards that I know of that are in a similar class.

I'm personally giving Nord until the end of this year to see what they end up doing with the Wave 2. If it's nothing, then I'll be looking for my replacement. I'm just having a hard time fitting it into my gigs as well. I end up just using it to play mellotron samples and occasional leads, but i feel like I could get a better board for that (or just save up and get the new stage when that comes out) .

I hope you are right. The EQ Drive issue is the one that bugs me, as I don't need vibrato across layers very often. In any case, here's hoping for a substantial update!

I don't think there will be a new update.
I like my Wave 2 but there is no MIDI send for the arpeggiator. Too bad.

I don't know what you are basing that on but Clavia is releasing updates for much older boards of theirs than the basically new Wave 2. Granted nobody knows if they'll fix the issues discussed here, but the only certain thing is that there will be (more than) a update...

Yes, there has to be at least one update to support the nsmp v4 version.
