Hi there,
sometimes i need a good Bösendorfer imperial Samples here for my theater-work and the nord wave 2 has to do that. Unfortunately the nord wavew can not read the Piano Library
So i sampled my nord6D with the Bösendorfer with velocity 48, 80, 105 and 125 and put it via the sound sample editor into the nord and pointed them to the layers A to D.
Now i have to tell the nord, that he has to use Layer A for all velocities from 0 - 48 and Layer B for velocities from 49 - 80, and Layer C for velocities from 81 - 105 and Layer D for velocities from 106 to 127.
But how?
I looked through the manual several times but i didn't get it.
Are you so kind to help?
Thanks in advance!
Pit

Hi, There-
I experimented with this (extensive trial and error) and I don't believe there is a way to accomplish a smooth transitions between velocities. You are attempting to do velocity switching by the numbers which is not supported on any Nord instrument that I know. I think you would get better results just importing the loudest sample and using velocity to control the amp and filter. The Wave 2 was not designed like the Electro or Stage series for serious classical piano playing.

Waking this for an additional question regarding velocity switching.
It seems to me there's velocity switching performed in some factory samples, like pianos. Is there no way to set that in Nord Sample Editor for your own samples?

All of the factory samples in the Wave 2 are loaded into a single layer. There is amp and filter velocity programmed into most of them, but in a single layer. Do you mean factory program? can you give an example of the factory sample you refer to?

OK, that's sureley the case. I though I heard velocity switching in some piano samples but it might as well be filter settings.
If I understand correctly the Nord Pianos do have velocity switching? Is this something that's editable for the users when working with their own samples?

There really isn't any programmable velocity switching, as all of the user samples would be single layer. The Nord Pianos read the Piano library, so those pianos will give you what you want, but not with user samples-

OK, thanks for the info. I guess the Nord Waves and Pianos aren't full blown samplers in the "traditional" way. Just wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything.
