Don't feel too disappointed,I guess Clavia's resources are being focused onto current synths like the NL4 and A1,at least they acknowledged your observations, and took the time to reply, which does say something about the company as a whole.

The Wave is still a superb machine regardless of whether Clavia decide to fix the minor bugs, who knows they may just sort it,we have to just be a little more patient.

Yes, the wave is a fantastic synth and it would be great to get an update with some more features and bugs fixed.

I would love an OS update to the Nord Wave. I just got one a couple of days ago. These are a few of the things I would like:

1. Add Vibrato Level to the SYSTEM menu, I keep wanting to hear a much deeper vibrato on some patches, especially bass, and funkier sounds also need it to go deeper. I'd rather use the existing vibrato than make use of an LFO for this.

2. Add Unison mode to MONO MODE section, clicking the button a third time will light both LEDs and will stack the voices. If you could add all three modes from the Lead 4, that would be awesome! Unison 1 - both LEDs on, Unison 2 - both on / MONO LED flashing, Unison 3 - both on / LEGATO LED flashing. I'm tapping into my experience with adding extensive hacks and features to a Mutable Shruthi and what I had to do to indicate new modes of operation. :)

3. Add velocity curve setting to the SYSTEM menu. I really want to use this as my new master MIDI controller (because this will also be my primary source of new sounds when I want to quickly whip something up). The existing curve is nice. But, I generally play with a lighter touch and would also like something called "Easy" where I can use a lighter touch, and then several fixed velocity settings that I generally use to assist me with MIDI sequencing, sound programming and playing velocity-sensitive sounds at their sweet spots. I don't see a need for a less responsive "Hard" curve. So I would maybe like settings in this order:
Velocity Curve: Normal, Easy, Fixed 64, Fixed 72, Fixed 80, Fixed 88, Fixed 96, Fixed 104, Fixed 112, Fixed 120, Fixed 127.

4. Would it be possible to add a more subtle chorus setting, one that adds a little sense of stereo and depth to a sound, but not so much that the sound suddenly explodes into stereo? Maybe put that at the end of the CHORUS button push cycle, indicated by a flashing LED 1.

I couldn't find much else that I'd want, other than the things that have already been suggested. A list might help inspire them, to make it more worth their time. Based on my experience with hacking the code of a Mutable Shruthi, it shouldn't be a big deal to add minor features to a modern digital hardware synth. Some of the new things might be more "hidden" and not reflected by the text on the panel, BUT, there's an entire LCD display to show what's happening, so it's hardly hidden, it's a minor inconvenience at best. Since this synth really is more of a cult thing at this point, and they probably won't release a Nord Wave 2 (it's not that hard to locate a used Nord Wave), I can't see any reason to not give us an OS upgrade. Hell, I'd pay a bit for it.

Nice ideas.

I'd also want to have the AfterTouch as a Morph source.

Considering the fact that the Nord Wave is already discontinued, they probably won't give a free update for the synth that will sell and benefit only in the second hand market. But then again a bit charged update would be a welcome for giving the Nord Wave longer longevity, I believe.

Great job Don Solaris! I hope they really read their emails because I'm a Nordwave lover as you are, it's a fantastic machine. Never understood why they stopped selling it, maybe because it canibalised the other Nord products...I'll write an email as well to Clavia...

Let's cross fingers!

Frankly, that seems a bit mean-spirited. You're not the only person who would like to see Nord add "just this one little thing, surely it can't be that hard" and to expect a company to pander to your wishes ahead of everyone else's is just unrealistic. If you refrained from buying every keyboard whose manufacturer doesn't jump to your demands, you wouldn't have anything left to play. And I certainly wouldn't take seriously anyone who advised me not to buy their products because the manufacturer didn't immediately rework their products to suit their own personal tastes. I mean, really? How's that work out for you with Roland or Yamaha?
