Brand new Nord Wave 2 has one key stuck

Postby Jon Lukas » 03 Mar 2022, 19:07

I received a brand new Wave 2 yesterday. Everything seems good, except the D below middle C has quite a bit more friction than the other keys. If I play the key a few times, it loosens up a little (but still not completely good), but a few minutes later it is stiffer again. It seems that one key is lacking lubrication perhaps.

Anyone know if this something that will work out with some use? Or will I need to have the unit replaced?

PS: I used it a bit more and it seems to not be getting better, so I’ve arranged to return it.

Smart move. A bit surprising as these are hand made and would be tested before leaving Nord.

Hi
I got a wave 2 in sep 2022 and had the same problem. 2 keys were really sticky
I’m in Canada and waited 3 months for delivery and had to programme a show, so decided to fix it myself rather than send back
As far as I can tell it’s a fatar manufacture issue that’s not been picked up by nord quality control
There were sharp bits of plastic down the sides of the key “runners” that guide the key over the lubricated rubbed bushings. I took a sharp craft knife and removed them on the 2 sticky keys and now it’s fine
I was disappointed that this was missed at nord… but also glad it was fixable
Hope yours worked out
