Hi,
i am totally new to synths and I have my first gig as a keyboarder (normally I play bass) in one week.
What am I trying to do?
I want to play my nordwave 2 in combination with my Roland vt4 vocoder, so paying and singing a vocoder vocals as background vocals at the same time.
It works just fine, however, when I move the mod wheel of my Nord, for example to open up the filter of the patch, my vocoder voice changes too. There is a tremolo like effect going on on the voice.
So the mod wheel sends midi data to my Roland vt4 and triggers, blends in an effect that I don't want.
Is there a possibility to tell the Nord, to not send midi data from the mod wheel.
(I can't disable the tremolo effect an the Roland ...maybe there is a possibility, but the manual doesn't help)
Thanks everyone!
Johnny from Bavaria

Re: Deactivate Mod Wheel Midi Send?
In the Midi Menu (Shift + Program 3), you need to set CC Mode to either Off or Receive.

Re: Deactivate Mod Wheel Midi Send?
Thank you but this doesnt help. I dont know why because it seems obvious that if it doesnt send midi cc it shouldnt trigger the vt4 effects
Also tried that before.
Any other solutions?

Re: Deactivate Mod Wheel Midi Send?
Might it helps if you check the midi out with a midi tool like midiox. It's for free and it shows you the midioutput of your Nord.

But how does this help? You mean i will know what midi data my nordwave is sending?

Yes, perhaps a way to solve the problem.

Exactly, disabling the CC send should prevent the MW data (MIDI CC#11) to be sent, so if there is still something happening either the setting on NW is not correct or there are other MIDI data that affect the vocoder.
Step 1 in these cases is: diagnose the problem using a MIDI Monitor (MidiOX on Windows, Snoize MIDI Monitor on Mac,..) , then you'll be able to evaluate the next step.
PS: on NW2 the setting for MIDI CC Mode affects only the Global channel, if you are also using individual Layer channels that setting won't work.
So, for the usage with the Vocoder, check/ensure you are using only the Global channel (Layer channels = Off or anyway different from the one set for Global/Vocoder and also ensure that the Vocoder MIDI Channel is not set to Omni (0), but to the specific 1–16 Ch (matching the NW2 Global )

Re: Deactivate Mod Wheel Midi Send?
The manual isn't very clear about the two fundamentally different MIDI operating types:
As long as Global MIDI is On, commands will only be sent on the global MIDI channel. But if it's off, MIDI commands are sent through the 4 layer channels. No idea if CC = off will work in both cases.
P.30 ('Sending on layer channels') contradicts the table on p. 29 of the English manual saying that the layer channels only receive MIDI data.

Correct, not so clear the way it is written there, but ultimately the best thing in the case of the OP would be to switch OFF all Layer channels and use only the Global, with MIDI CC Mode = Off. A check with a MIDI Monitor would confirm that in this way only Notes messages are actually sent to MIDI OUT/Vocoder.
