Can I use modulation on samples?

Postby unclecarol » 15 Jan 2020, 23:51

Here's my issue...

I have a bunch of different synth sounds on my record that I have to transfer to our live show. I would LOVE to not have to use a laptop on stage, which is why I'm looking into samplers that have modulation capabilities.

My question is…If I were to sample each synth sound from my record onto the Wave, would I be able to use the modulation and synth effects on the instrument using a sample-based sound? Or would it essentially play like a sample keyboard, similar to how the Nord Electro sampler works, where you can't use any live modulation when using sample-based material?

Thx,
CR

Short answer:

Yes you will be able to modulate the samples.

Longer answer:

Nord Electro's that have sample capability use a simple sample engine. It is NOT a synth engine.

The Nord Stage and Wave2 contain full synth engines that can use samples as the oscillator source. You can manipulate the samples just as you would oscillators.
