Pablo,
Many thanks for you very informative response. I appreciate that and shall reply in the next day or so.
I also have another question, which I will post under separate cover, unless I can find the answer within an existing thread...

I've just scanned the list and do not see these two particular samples listed there, but obviously they can be loaded.
Hi Pablo,
Is this the list you are referring to, please:

Re: The Best Synth Brass
pablomastodon wrote:My experience on things like brasses (and saxes, flutes, strings, etc.) has been that synth sounds are cool, but lack authenticity, while sampled sounds have authenticity, but can feel lifeless. When the two are layered together everything just sparkles. So, I encourage experimentation along those lines where possible. On your NE6 you'll need to choose between one of the other, but you should perhaps audition the NL2X synth samples -- you may find something that you like.
Pablo,
You mean this page here (relating to NLX2 synth-sounds)?:
https://www.nordkeyboards.com/sound-libraries/nord-sample-library-archive/synthesizers/oberheim-matrix-12
Some of them sound quite OK (like the Oberheim and Moogs). But I noticed that a lot of this library has not been updated since 2011; not sure if that's a good/bad sign? I was not aware I could d/l patches (to my E6D) from other Nord synths (although to be fair it is only in the last week or so that I have actually had a chance to start playing, and thinking about, my new synth).
When you mention that I need to choose between synth/samples (one or the other) does this mean that I can not mix & match? ie. You can not LAYER a synth sound with a sample? Or even have them 'active' in the same instant?
SORRY for the novice questions here!
Best,
Paul

Re: The Best Synth Brass
Pablo,
There is quite a good on-board patch "Prophy Brass - the prophet" (location: G-24).
At the negative end of the spectrum there lies (in my humble opinion) "Pop Brass - pop section 2" (location: A-34).
Cheers,
Paul

So for the novice questions here!
Best,

Paul, all questions are good no matter if they are novice or expert questions
Regarding layers of synth and sample: this is possible with the Nord Stage where two panels (A and B) offer simultaneous instances of each sound engine (organ, piano, synth), one of each in both panels. This provides the option to layer a synth sound on panel A with a sample on layer B, in fact you can layer all of the same time (2 organs, 2 pianos, 2 synth) or any combination of these. It cannot be done with the Electro as far as I know since this one provides only one instance of each sound engine.

Hi Schorsch,
Many thanks for the response.
Yes, you are correct about the 2 panels on the 'Stage' instrument. I forgot about that.
On the E6D you can, as you say, have ONE patch from each ENGINE (say 1 x Organ, 1 x Piano, and 1 x Synth) - as far as I can tell. But I have not gotten anywhere near performing any programming as yet...
I am at this very moment creating a dedicated thread (in the Nord Electro Forum) to a new question which has arisen for me relating to a FACTORY RESTORE.
Danke!
Paul
