Re: Lucky man ELP
That's going to be tough to do since there's just so much depth and balls to that modular patch, but I'm sure we could get fairly close..

Re: Lucky man ELP
Hey we got close!!
I apologize in advance for:
But this should give everyone an idea of how easy it is to use the synth section - at least for simple things like big, fat square waves
bonus! I got flagged for third party content by youtube! I didn't think my playing was that good....
I apologize in advance for:
- It's in English - Mein Deutsch ist nicht gut
- The playing is horrendous - I was trying to nail the sound, not the notes
- The camera is a bit wobbly (actually my keyboard stand is)
- My DAW is out of commission so the audio is just the camera's audio, unfortunately

Awesome work bdodds!
I wish more members would take the initiative to produce tutorials.
This is clearly one of the many reasons that you were asked to join the team.
Cheers, Hanon

Re: Lucky man ELP
youtube makes it painfully simple - hopefully my account doesn't get locked due to copyright infringement though..

Re: Lucky man ELP
Hey bdodds,
Thanks so much for this great little video! It's exactly what I, and I'm sure others, need. I've had my ns2 for a couple months now but sadly I'm not getting what I'm hoping for from the synth section yet because I don't really understand how the controls within the synth section...relate to each other? It seems from the little tweaking I've done, that the settings for some parts of the synth section affect the others. I can get close, but for the most part I can't seem to manipulate them to get what I'm hearing in my head.
An idea/suggestion: Would it be possible for you to do another video (or two or three , running thru the other controls and how they affect the sound or each other, ie. the rest of the Filter section, LFO section, mod and amp envelopes? It seems I can drastically move knobs about and sometimes it has little or no affect on the sound... I'm sure I'm missing something but have no clue what it could be. Perhaps just a quick walk thru, as you've done here, of a few basic patch types created from scratch, - a pad, a plucked-type instrument, synth brass, and perhaps another type of lead? That would be incredible! You seem to have the knowledge; more importantly though, you have the gift/ability to communicate it efficiently!
In any event, thanks again for taking the time to SHOW us how you've created a sound rather than just posting the patch. You know what they say about teaching a man to fish! Well done, sir!

Re: Lucky man ELP
Thanks! I'll see what I can do.. the synth section is no Minimoog, but it's still a fairly complicated beast..
