Volume /swell pedal
Dear All, i am new in nord world and a have a stage 3 compact.
My question is: is possible to use the organ swell pedal to control the volume of piano and synt section? My question is for use only one pedal for both section, the manual is not so clear for setting this function. Can the control pedal input manage both function?
Thank you in advance for the reply
Daniele

Re: Volume /swell pedal
Hello Daniele, to do what you are asking is better you connect the Expression Pedal to the CtrlPedal input, set it as CTRl+SWELL in system menu and then use the Morph to apply it also to Piano and Synth sections volume, when needed.

Re: Volume /swell pedal
Personally, I would refrain from using the Swell function anyways. I had constructed my own pedal board with an Expression Pedal, a Swell Pedal, Sustain Pedal and Rotor Start/Stop Pedal. While performing I got sometimes frustrated and almost panicked because I couldn't hear my organ any more and couldn't the heck find out why. Result was that I accidentally had the Swell Pedal at Zero. The main problem is that there are NO visible indications (other that e.g. Part volume - you see the LEDs in place), so you easily oversee this, even more as nearly everything on the Nord has an LED indication to give you a hint.
Besides, I personally cannot make a big difference between the "swell" function and "volume" change. Even more so in a Band Context. There might be some difference in tonalities, but I guess you need to really listen closely to determine that. So I decided to make my life less complicated and just use an expression pedal, and morphing volume with that at my "gusto".

I will try also your suggestion. The swell i think will effect the drive and the tonalities, but i think also that the most of the people during a concert can’t hear any difference.christianjwagner wrote:Personally, I would refrain from using the Swell function anyways. Re: Volume /swell pedal
Morphing the organ level to the control pedal will also allow you to start the level at zero, making it easy to fade into a song over a piano or other instrument. Good luck!Lordnord wrote:I will try also your suggestion. Re: Volume /swell pedal
There is a way to use the FC7 to control the volume of the entire keyboard. Plug it into the organ swell jack, go to system menu for the swell pedal. Hit the button under the Func part on the screen. It allows you to choose between swell function or volume. If you choose volume, your pedal will affect all programs.

Re: Volume /swell pedal
Lordnord, you're welcome. It took me a while to figure this out, because I wanted the same thing!

Has anyone figured out if "Swell" does anything different from adjusting the volume of exclusively organ patches?christianjwagner wrote:There might be some difference in tonalities, but I guess you need to really listen closely to determine that.
